The Unseen War – The Fight of Our Lives

Part One: Under Siege

February 9, 2025

“We are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.”

— Ephesians 6:12 (New Living Translation)

WHAT DO WE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE FIGHT OF OUR LIVES?

1. We are in an unseen war.

“Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.”

— Ephesians 6:11 (NLT)

“Once we, too, were… slaves to many lusts and pleasures. Our lives were full of evil and envy, and we hated each other. But—When God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, he saved us… He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.”

— Titus 3:3–5 (NLT)

“You… are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God’s holy people. You are members of God’s family.”

— Ephesians 2:19 (NLT)

2. Our real enemy is Satan and his forces.

“The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give [you] a rich and satisfying life.”

— John 10:10 (NLT)

3. It’s time to take a stand.

“Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground.”

— Ephesians 6:13–14 (NLT)

“[Put] on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

— Ephesians 6:14–17 (NLT)

4. We don’t stand alone.

“Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.”

— Ephesians 6:18 (NLT)
