I undertook great projects: I built houses for myself and planted vineyards. 5 I made gardens and parks and planted all kinds of fruit trees in them. 6 I made reservoirs to water groves of flourishing trees. . . . I also owned more herds and flocks than anyone in Jerusalem before me. 8 I amassed silver and gold for myself, and the treasure of kings and provinces. . . . 9 I became greater by far than anyone in Jerusalem before me. (Ecclesiastes 2:4-9, New International Version)

I denied myself nothing my eyes desired; I refused my heart no pleasure. My heart took delight in all my labor, and this was the reward for all my toil. 11Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun. (Ecclesiastes 2:10-11, NIV)

Watch out and guard yourselves from every kind of greed; because your true life is not made up of the things you own, no matter how rich you may be. (Luke 12:15, Good News Translation)

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; 21 for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Matthew 6:19-21, New American Standard Bible)

While Jesus was in the Temple, he watched the rich people dropping their gifts in the collection box. 2 Then a poor widow came by and dropped in two small coins. 3 "I tell you the truth," Jesus said, "this poor widow has given more than all the rest of them. 4For they have given a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she has." (Luke 21:1-4, New Living Translation)

  1. It's not about what's in our bank account – it's about what's in our hearts.Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. (1 Timothy 6:17-18, New Living Translation)
  2. God will often use us to provide blessings to others.By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. (John 13:35, NIV)Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, "Go in peace; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. (James 2:15-17, NIV)..God does not see the same way people see. People look at the outside of a person, but the Lord looks at the heart. (1 Samuel 16:7, New Century Version)When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. (James 4:3, NIV)Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full - pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back. (Luke 6:38, NLT)
  3. God's greatest blessings can't go in the bankThe one who works his land will have plenty of food, but whoever chases fantasies lacks judgment. (Proverbs 12:11, Berean Study Bible)
