Light In The Darkness

Part Two

December 8, 2024

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.”

(John 1:5, New LivingTranslation 2nd Ed.)

“God sent a man, John the Baptist…to tell about the light so that everyone might believe because of histestimony.  John himself was not the light; he was simply a witness totell about the light. The one who is the true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.”

(John 1:6-9, NLT 2ndEd.)

“John the Baptistcame to the Judean wilderness and began preaching… John’s clothes were woven from coarse camelhair, and he wore a leather belt around his waist. For food he ate locusts andwild honey.”     (Matthew 3:1,4 , NLT2)

“your son] will be great in theeyes of the Lord. He must never touch wine or other alcoholic drinks. He willbe filled with the Holy Spirit, even before his birth.

[Your son] will turn manyIsraelites to the Lord their God. He will be a man with the spirit and power ofElijah. He will prepare the people for the coming of the Lord. He will turn thehearts of the fathers to their children, and he will cause those who arerebellious to accept the wisdom of the godly.”

(Luke 1:15-17, NLT2)

“… someone iscoming soon who is greater than I am—so much greater that I’m not even worthyto be his slave and untie the straps of his sandals.”

(Luke 3:16, NLT2)

‘I am not the Messiah. I am onlyhere to prepare the way for him.’ It is the [groom] who marries the bride, and the best man is simply glad to stand with him and hear his vows. Therefore,I am filled with joy at his success. He must become greater and greater, and Imust become less and less.

(John 3:8-30, NLT2)
