Understand and believe that earth is not my home
"They agreed that they were foreigners and nomads here on earth. [They were] looking forward to a country they can call their own…. they were looking for a better place, a heavenly homeland." Hebrews 11:15-16 (New Living Translation 2)
"Those who love money will never have enough. How meaningless to think that wealth brings true happiness! The more you have, the more people come to help you spend it. So what good is wealth—except perhaps to watch it slip through your fingers!.... The rich seldom get a good night's sleep. Hoarding riches harms the saver. Money is put into risky investments that turn sour, and everything is lost. In the end, there is nothing left….We all come to the end of our lives as naked and empty-handed as on the day we were born. We can't take our riches with us." Ecclesiastes 5:10-15 (NLT2)
"[Let us] not… trust in [our] money, which is so unreliable…. [Let us] use [God's] money to do good. [Let us] be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. By doing this [we] will be storing up [our] treasure… for the future so that [we] may experience true life." Timothy 6:17-19 (NLT2)
Giving is the only antidote to materialism
"For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me." Matthew 25:35-36 (NLT2)
