S.H.A.P.E. Part 4: Personality

October 6, 2024

"Look, I have specifically chosen Bezalel . . . . I have filled him with the Spirit of God, giving him great wisdom, ability, and expertise in all kinds of crafts. . . . And I have personally appointed Oholiab . . . . to be his assistant. Moreover, I have given special skill to all the gifted craftsmen so they can make all the things I have commanded you to make:" (Exodus 31:2–6, New Living Translation)

WHAT DO OUR ABILITIES SHOW US ABOUT GOD'S PLAN FOR OUR LIVES?

"The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ." (1 Corinthians 12:12, NLT)

1. Your abilities highlight your place of service.

"Our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where he wants it." (1 Corinthians 12:18, NLT)

2. None of us get ALL the skills.

"If the whole body were an eye, how would you hear? Or if your whole body were an ear, how would you smell anything? . . . . How strange a body would be if it had only one part!" (1 Corinthians 12:17, 19, NLT)

"Yes, there are many parts, but only one body. The eye can never say to the hand, "I don't need you." The head can't say to the feet, "I don't need you." (1 Corinthians 12:20–21, NLT)

3. We use our abilities to support each other.

"This makes for harmony among the members, so that all the members care for each other. If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad." (1 Corinthians 12:22, 25–26, NLT)

4. Use your skills to serve in the Church.

"All of you together are Christ's body, and each of you is a part of it." (1 Corinthians 12:27, NLT)
