"As a face is reflected in water, so the heart reflects the real person." (Proverbs 27:19, New Living Translation)
"It is God who produces in you the desires and actions that please him." (Philippians 2:13, God's Word)
1. Disappointment stops me from following my heart.
"Hope deferred makes the heart sick." (Proverbs 13:12, NLT)
2. Fear holds me back.
"To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away." (Matthew 25:29, NLT)
3. Rejection prevents us from following our heart according to God's purpose.
"… I'm not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ's servant." (Galatians 1:10, NLT)
4. Open your heart to Jesus.
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding." (Proverbs 3:5, NLT)
5. Allow God to heal your heart.
"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed." (Psalm 34:18, NLT)
6. Identify the desires God has placed in your heart.
"Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that… don't compare yourself with others." (Galatians 6:4-5, The Message)
7. Look at my options.
"Enthusiasm without knowledge is no good; haste makes mistakes." (Proverbs 19:2, NLT)
8. Step out in faith.
"So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless." (1 Corinthians 15:58, NLT)
"Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart's desires." (Psalm 37:4, NLT)
