Called: Why Am I Here?

Part Five - Called to be a Blessing

February 25, 2024

"We are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago."

  • Ephesians 2:10 (New Living Translation)

I am called to be a blessing.

"God has given each of you some special abilities; be sure to use them to help each other, passing on to others God's many kinds of blessings."

  • 1 Peter 4:10 (Living Bible)

My life calling in life is to be a minister of Jesus Christ.

"Christ gave to the church.... the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God's people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ."

  • Ephesians 4:11–12 (NLT)

All God's people are ministers—pastors are here to equip you for ministry.

"God in his grace chose me even before I was born, and called me to serve him."

  • Galatians 1:15 (Today's English Version)

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF I USE MY LIFE TO SERVE AND BLESS OTHERS?

1. Serving will create joy in my life.

"My life is being poured out as a part of the sacrifice and service I offer to God for your faith. Yet, I am filled with joy, and I share that joy with all of you."

  • Philippians 2:17 (God's Word)

2. Serving will improve my relationships.

"Your attitude must be like my own, for I did not come to be served but to serve."

  • Matthew 20:28 (LB)

3. Serving will make my life meaningful.

"If you try to keep your life for yourself, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will find true life."

  • Mark 8:35 (NLT)

Common Objections:

Objection 1: "You don't really need me!"

"All of you together are the one body of Christ, and each one of you is a separate and necessary part of it."

  • 1 Corinthians 12:27 (Living Bible)

Truth: We are not going to grow without you!

Objection 2: "I'm not good enough to serve."

"Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—and I am the worst of them all. But God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners."

  • 1 Timothy 1:15–16 (NLT)

Truth: You cannot sin so bad, that God won't forgive you and use you again.
