Part 3: Breaking the Chains of Sexual Sin

"Run from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body." (1 Corinthians 6:18, NLT)

"From the beginning 'God made them male and female.' And he said, 'This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.' Since they are no longer two but one, let no one split apart what God has joined together." (Matthew 19:4–6, NLT)

Sexual sin includes any sex outside of God's original design: one man and one woman in a lifelong committed relationship of marriage

1. Sex before marriage

"Marriage must be respected by all, and the marriage bed kept undefiled, because God will judge immoral people and adulterers." (Hebrews 13:4, HCSB)

2. Adultery

"You must not commit adultery." (Exodus 20:14, NLT)

3. Homosexuality

"God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other." (Romans 1:26–27, NLT)

4. Lust/Pornography

"You have heard the commandment that says, 'You must not commit adultery.' But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart." (Matthew 5:27–28, NLT)

HOW DO I BREAK FREE TODAY?

1. Leave your sin at Jesus' feet.

2. Run away from temptation!

"Run from anything that stimulates youthful lusts. Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and peace. Enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts." (2 Timothy 2:22, NLT)

3. Connect with community.

Many Samaritans from that town believed in Him because of what the woman said when she testified, "He told me everything I ever did." . . . . Many more believed because of what He said. And they told the woman, "We no longer believe because of what you said, for we have heard for ourselves and know that this really is the Savior of the world." (John 4:39–42, HCSB)
